I have been an on-again, off-again subscriber to Connor for a year or so. He seems a nice guy but his content is only occasionally to my taste.

I came to this book with similar thoughts, thoughts that it could be ok but probably wouldn’t be for me. I since heard people raving about it and I became intrigued. I was tempted to buy on several occasions but couldn’t actually bring myself to. Then came along the June #LGBTReadathon and I was looking for a third physical book, so in light of Connor’s recent coming out, I finally felt I had reason enough to pick it up and read it.
Yesterday was the first day of the readathon and conveniently I had a long train journey to pass time on so I started with Connor’s book. By the time I finished the journey, I had finished the book. Yes, it’s a relatively short book with lots of pages taken up with photographs (stunning photographs might I add!), but that has got to be the fastest I’ve whizzed through a book in my life!
A Work In Progress is, if you are a fan of Connor, perhaps exactly what you might expect from him, a perfect extension of his YouTube channel. You can hear his voice and idiosyncrasies coming through on the page. Connor describes the book as a memoir. However, I would describe it more as a book of life lessons, albeit passed on to teens and young adults in an anecdotal way.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of Connor Franta, this book has been out over two months, why haven’t you read it yet?! If you aren’t a fan generally but are thinking about picking it up, do! This is where I was with it and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

A Work in Progress is an American memoir written by YouTuber and entrepreneur Connor Franta. It was published in April 2015 by Atria/Keywords Press.[1][2][3][4] It centers around Connor Franta's life, his childhood, his current life and his future aspirations. Franta went on a promotional tour for the book in the United States, United Kingdom as well as promotion during the Amplify Live Australian Tour in 2015. In May 2016, a hardcover version was made available through a public release.[5] A second hardcover book featuring a different cover, was also released in 2016. The book was succeeded by Franta's 2017 memoir, Note to Self.
