FileName Extreme

The FileUploader UI component enables an end user to upload files to the server. An end user can select files in the file explorer or drag and drop files on the page's FileUploader area. FileName Extreme allows you to edit the names of a folder of files. FileName Extreme is much faster than renaming files manually and can access data hidden inside the files (called metadata). Using the Preview function allows you to see what your files would look like if they were renamed, without having to actually rename them.

Revu can add custom headers and footers to one or more PDFs or edit existing headers and footers. This section describes adding and editing headers and footers to a single file. To apply headers and footers to multiple files, see Batch Processing Headers and Footers.

Generally speaking, documents can have only one editable header and footer; in Revu, that's considered to be the first header and footer defined for a document. Users who wish to add content to a document with a header and/or footer are urged to consider editing the master header and footer.

It might be desirable, however, to add content to the header or footer areas of a document that is not a part of the master header and footer configuration (for example, to place information in an unoccupied space on the header or footer in a different font or color). Be aware that, while this can be done, any header or footer information added in this way will not be editable. Revu will place the desired information on the designated pages without changing the master header and footer configuration, but if content placed by way of these secondary headers and footers needs to be updated later, it must to be removed and reapplied. Additionally, be cautious of overlapping content when adding secondary headers and footers.

To add a header or footer to the active PDF:

  1. Go to Document > Headers & Footers > Add. The Header and Footer dialog box appears.

  2. There are six boxes in the Header and Footer section representing the right, left and center areas of the header and footer, respectively. To populate these fields with a previously configured header/footer template, select it from the Save Settings list. Otherwise, add information to any of these by clicking in the desired box and entering text or clicking one of the Insert buttons, which are described below.

    • Page Number: Auto-generates a page number value in the chosen format.

    • Date: Auto-generates the date in the chosen format.

    • Bates Number: Auto-generates a Bates number with fixed number of digits and a user-defined prefix and suffix.

    • File Data: Inserts a selected file property, such as the file name, document path, author, and more.

  3. Define the appearance of header and footer text using the Font controls at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Adjust the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margins by changing the Margins values.
    • Margin settings are visible in the Preview section and update dynamically when changes are made.
    • To shrink page content to fit within the margins, select Fit content inside margins.
  5. Use the Preview window to check that the header or footer does not cover any information already on any of the document's pages. Advance through the pages using the navigation controls below the preview window.
  6. To apply this header/footer configuration to multiple documents and/or to a specific page or range of pages:
    1. Click either Add Files or the Batch Page Range link at the bottom of the dialog box. In either case, the Batch: Header Footer dialog box appears.

    2. To add additional documents, use one (or both) of the following methods:

      • To add all PDFs that are currently open in Revu, click Add Open Files.
      • To select files from a local or network drive, click Add.

Note: It is possible to add files that are not open in Revu. If this happens, a warning will appear prior to saving stating that adding a header or footer will overwrite the file. PDFs that are open in Revu will appear modified, but changes will not be applied until the files are saved.

    3. To select a Page Range, click the Pages menu and select from the following:

      • All Pages: Sets the range to all pages.
      • Current: Sets the range to the current page only. The current page number will appear in parentheses, for example, Current (2) if page 2 is the current page.
      • Selected: Sets the range to the current selection. This option only appears if pages were selected prior to invoking the command.
      • Custom: Sets the range to a custom value. When this option is selected the list becomes a text box. To enter a custom range:
        • Use a dash between page numbers to define those two pages and all pages in between.
        • Use a comma to define pages that are separated.

        For example: 1-3, 5, 9 will include pages 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9.

Note: If multiple documents have been selected, the page range being defined applies only to the document selected in the File List. To define page ranges for a different document, click it first. Individual page ranges can be defined for each document in the File List.

    4. From the Apply To menus, select among Even Pages Only, Odd Pages Only or Odd and Even Pages and among Landscape Pages, Portrait Pages or Landscape and Portrait Pages. These selections work in conjunction to form the filter, so any pages to be processed must meet both criteria selected.
    5. Click OK.
  7. To save this header and footer configuration for use on future documents:
    1. Click Save at the top of the dialog box. The Save Header Footer Settings dialog box appears.

    2. Enter a name for this configuration in the Save Header Footer Settings as field and click OK.
  8. Click OK to apply the header and footer.

This process describes removing all headers and footers from an active document. To remove specific information from a header or a footer, refer to Editing and Updating Headers and Footers.

To remove all secondary headers and footers (see Adding a Header and Footer for information about secondary headers and footers) while preserving the master header and footer, see Editing and Updating Headers and Footers.

To remove all headers and footers from a document:

  1. Go to Document > Headers and Footers > Edit. The Header and Footer dialog box appears.

  2. Click Delete All. If a warning dialog box appears, click OK to confirm deletion of the headers and footers.

Some headers and footers can be edited directly. For PDFs created using Revu, this includes any created using Revu Windows version 12 or higher or Revu Mac.

Filename Extension Excel

If for some reason a document's headers and footers cannot be edited directly, the recommended course of action is to completely remove them and add new headers and footers.

Editing an existing header and footer will automatically apply it to all designated pages, including new pages. In this way, you can update the document's header and footer to accommodate new pages (for example, to update page numbers). Note that when the header/footer of a page is updated, all header and footer information is overwritten; any secondary headers/footers will be lost (see Adding a Header and Footer for information about secondary headers and footers).

To edit headers and footers:
